Gay dungeons and dragons
One of the cool things about actual plays is that the creators often work on multiple projects. That’s where Adventuring with Pride, an LGBT+ 5E supplement from the husband team of Jack and Alex Dixon, comes in. Their first campaign, The Second Stranger, recently ended.
With all the channel has to offer, you can start just about anywhere, though I highly recommend The Borros Saga: Banesbreak. Wizards of the Coast have taken some serious strides to be more inclusive in the content it brings to Dungeons and Dragons, but there still hasn’t been quite an open LGBT+ adventure.
The channel loves bringing on guest stars and playing in fun and exciting settings. I always assumed I was in a small minority as a gay DnD player but no, after years of engaging with the community I've come to the conclusion that there's a good chance most of the people who read this are LGBT+.
PixelCircus is a Twitch channel that features a whole lot of gaming content, including Dungeons and Dragons. Dungeons and Dragons is truly one of my favorite things in the whole world. They also work as a fiction editor with The Minison Project. Not only is it a more welcoming place for women and people of color, but now, D&D is also pretty gay.
I have not let that decide which actual plays made the cut for this list. Based out of Seattle, Queens of Adventure started as a live performance. Queer characters abound in Dungeons and Dragons, and our professional Game Master is here to help you create and play an LGBTQ+ character of your own.
Since its launch in , Dungeons & Dragons has garnered the reputation of a tabletop roleplaying game primarily for straight, cisgender men - a stereotype derived from a bit of truth. Actual plays are pretty much exactly the way they sound. Mara graduated with a B. A in creative writing and theatre and is halfway through an MFA in Creative writing.
It’s no surprise that Dungeons & Dragon has gained a significant following among the LGBTQ+ community — and as such, there has been a drive to increase queer and trans-inclusive representation in. There are nearly 70 episodes out now, with more on the horizon.
Primarily a stream, you can still catch up on old episodes on their Youtube channel by the same name. Dungeons and Dragons' player base has become more diverse. And, once you find a good one, you usually are able to find a lot more. But while the game has appeared overwhelmingly homogeneous, there has always been a strong LGBTQ+ community.
View All posts by Mara Franzen. Everything is pastel, has cute names, and just feels welcoming. Plenty of LGBTQ+ characters exist throughout the Dungeons and Dragons setting, with varying degrees of relevancy. That's not a knock, as I firmly believe in proper representation, not tokenism.
Queens of Adventure is just what it sounds like: drag queens playing Dungeons and Dragons. Soon you just might be watching more actual plays than regular TV. That is not a bad way to live, let me tell you. Nearly all of their published articles can be found here.
This actual play is hilarious, heartfelt, and so so gay. They also tell some really remarkable stories that will stick in your head. What sets this channel apart is the energy and overall good vibes the players put forth. This is often in the form of Twitch streams or as a podcast, but there are a whole lot of formats for the consumption of actual plays.
